( the one thing jinx really despise is the holidays. because the holidays are when everyone in the whole world acts so obnoxiously annoying and go completely overboard with gifts, smiles, and make such a big fuss over it. and one of the worst holidays of all is valentine's day. the girls squealing and showing off to others what they got from the their lovers like it's some competition. and their other half either spend way too much money or sweat bullets in a panic on what to get them. because whatever they got them the year before couldn't be repeated. it's all stupid as far as jinx is concerned. but perhaps her sour mood kinda plays a part that her and her ex-boyfriend chadd broke up last year. so coming into school with balloon hearts, box of chocolates, cards, and flowers are just an eye sore.
grumbling and trying to avert her eyes to all of it, she gets stopped by the community club. the girls ask her if she would like to purchase a colored flower for someone for them to give out between classes. there's a small glare she shows in exchange, but the teen ends up saying, "sure". because every valentine's day so far, she always purchased a yellow friendship rose to ekko and vice versa for him. it was... like their thing. best friends and all that. but if only they had a black rose for hate she could give to chadd. anyhow, jinx coughs up a dollar and fills out a little form -- signing her name (not anonymous), have the flower addressed to ekko and for the yellow one. and taking a quick glance at the others ( pink flower = i have a crush on you, red flower = i'm in love with you/i love you ), a subtle thought if she would ever receive either of those. but who would ever be remotely interested in her in that way? jinx isn't exactly the cute barbie doll girl type and speaks in bubbles and glitter. )
( the first warning bell brings her out of that thought and she readjusts her backpack strap to head towards her first class. thank goodness her class isn't far and also thank goodness ekko is in this one. maybe the two of them can crack jokes on how dumb this holiday is. it'll definitely make her feel better and not think about her failed relationship with chadd. and hey, at least she will come out of this day with one flower than none. )
