C'mon, Boy Savior. Like I'll get rid of that easily. ( a grunt and body weight, jinx swings herself back and forth like a chimpanzee would to leap over to another tree branch. again, it's not... gracefully but she makes it a-okay. )
Duh, forest? Not too far in. Just go straight for a lil' while and that's it.
( she's clueless why he wants to know, but if she had to guess, maybe to study the monsters on his own than via charm. the hologram does give out a strange... video quality. the teen feels relevantly safe as she uses her upper body strength to yank herself up from dangling. but little does she know is a plant monster (another camouflaged one) seem to be on that particular tree she's on too. and like the other one, the rustling is quite noisy and it's disturbing its peaceful sleep. irritated, the monster uses its large mouth to chew on the branch jinx is dangling on to snap in half.
and before her mind can even process that its even there and what's happening, she is already falling. even with her plummeting, her thoughts are a million miles behind what's occurring to her. why is she falling? what is causing her to fall? she doesn't remember losing her grip so how is this even happening? ... is she about to die right now? jinx is way too stunned to scream, but life seems to flash before her eyes -- powder's carefree laughter echo in her ears, vi's words of encouragement, and silco's lectures that stuck with her. there's two firelight bugs that zip by through her vision and seeing them somehow is making her world go in funeral pace. a conversation between her and ange reaches her mind, on how if ange were to die -- it'd be from falling just like this. if she survives this (she doesn't have high hopes), maybe she can tell her all about what this was like for her.)
Jinx— [Ekko is grateful for the pitched voice modulation in his mask which hides the emotion in his voice. He doesn't even watch the end of her transmission because he's off on his board, sending it screeching into the trees from his chosen home right at the forest's edge, adrenaline making him stupid. All manner of animals and insects and birds scatter from the sound of his hoverboard engine suddenly tearing through the foliage, all except the firelights which seem to light his path: the forest is harder to navigate than even Zaun's most winding, cramped quarters, but he veers around trees and ignores the branches catching the edges of his clothes, flying straight until—
There. She's hard to miss, all blinding bright colors, ocean blue against the browns and greens of the trees. He doesn't have time for finesse, so he just rams into her side as she careens towards the ground, grabbing her around the middle from a crouch and not slowing down or stopping his board. Woken by the sound of its engine, two more huge plant monster mouths yawn open nearby before Ekko decides it's a bad idea to stay at their level and climbs them almost purely vertical to break through the canopy, instinctively curling around Jinx when their trajectory starts getting them battered and scratched by branches and leaves. He's got a lot more layers on than she does, after all.
When they finally breach into the open air and explosion of birds follows, and Ekko's brain slowly catches up to the series of events that just occurred. He awkwardly tries to set her weight down at the front of his board, leaning back to keep the board level so it doesn't dip forward and send them back down into the trees.]
( the more she falls, the more it sinks that she really is done for. and it would be like her "jinx" that she dies right here when she just got silco back. but... this is probably what she deserves. if her and silco can not coexist for whatever reason, she'd take the dive so he could continue on to live peacefully in this new world. after all, she owes him that much for ending his so abruptly. jinx doesn't voice it out to anyone (beyond ange), but living is painful in her opinion. people get hurt, people lie, and there's so much despair and dread lurking in every corner. who would want to live if life is this cruel, especially to her? this curse she carries is proof that she wasn't meant to exist, vi was suppose to have a different sister and yet she came instead. imagine how everyone's life would be if she wasn't around at all. it's with this in mind is why jinx never really fears death like she should, to why she throws herself into dangerous situations without thinking -- because life is heartless and the afterlife must be something so beautiful.
but her approaching the afterlife won't be today as she feels something or someone crashing at her side, a yelp leaks pass her lips due to the impact. what in the world was that?! her mind is still lagging behind, but the roaring of engines sound so familiar though. and whatever or whoever has her, she clings to them in impulse to hold on desperately as they speed off through the trees with monsters yearn for flesh or whatever there is for hunger. but when her mind comes back to speed, when everything stills and calms -- jinx feels herself getting set down and she clumsily tries to balance herself on the board. and that's when she realizes what she is standing on. the hoverboard, ekko's hoverboard. her gaze darts quickly over to him, her eyes large and shines over the boy with his mask. )
( he... he saved her. ekko saved her. but why would he do that? is it because she has the possession of the gemstone and he was concern for that? he did seem so uptight over the fact she wasn't using it the way he wanted her to. but he could had easily shovel in her pockets and then drop her if that was the case. and didn't he hate her guts? that look he gave her with his fist pulled back on the bridge spoke loud and clear.
... but.
her heart is hammering out of her chest and into her ears, suddenly unable to breathe with him being a few inches apart from her. jinx feels she should say something to fill the dead air, but words are running entirely dry. her eyes are too locked onto the mask in which she wishes he or she could remove so... she can see if those brown eyes are looking the same way she is to him. a hand hesitatingly reaches out to him -- not entirely sure why but her body is reacting on its own at this point. her fingers find themselves gripping onto his sleeve, maybe to just hold onto? to keep her balance? to feel... that he's real? who knows, but she doesn't break away the stare she has on his mask. )
